What is Indian Head Massage?

Massage is the oldest form of medicine known to humans and has been practiced for thousands of years. The art of Indian Head Massage originated from Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine. This Sanskrit word can be translated as the “science of life” or “knowledge of life”. The Ayurvedic approach to health is the balance of body, mind and spirit and the promotion of long life.

Indian Head Massage is a form of relaxation massage that focuses on the face, head, neck, shoulders, upper back and upper arms. This form of massage is very relaxing and has a balancing effect on the nervous system of the recipient and it helps them to release stress and tension creating a sense of peace and well-being. Because this form of massage is done over the clothing in a seated position it can be done anywhere and at any time, making easily available just about anywhere.

CEU’s (CMTO)

In the past, the CMTO allowed course providers to submit their course outlines for pre-approval in a particular CEU category. This was not necessary for a course to count for CEUs, but it did help course providers ensure the topic of their course was one of the CEU-eligible subjects. In the spring of 2016, the CMTO stopped pre-approving all CEU courses. You can still claim the courses for CEU credits, just as you always could, despite the pre-approval process being discontinued.

How many CEU’s?

With a distance course it is tied to how much time you spend on the course.

You will get a log sheet to document how much time you spend on learning, practicing and doing your cases studies. Average time is 10 hour = 5 CEU’s

The CMTO allows for self assessment of workshops if you determine that it falls within the scope of practice you may claim it under one of the approved modalities that it would fit under. All the techniques are petrissage in nature.
